Biography
Brynjar Gunnarsson (1978) is an Icelandic photographer, with background in photojournalism and documentary photography. For the past year and half he has been working on a long-term project – the City planned for exhibition in Gallery Port, Reykjavik this spring.
Brynjar‘s work has been exhibited in Iceland and in the UK. He has participated in numbers of group exhibition including in; HOST Gallery London, FORMAT International Photography Festival in Derby and in the Nordic House in Reykjavik. As an photojournalist Brynjar has been awarded several awards, including the picture essay and environmental picture of the year by the Icelandic Press Photographers Association. Brynjar has lectured on photojournalism both in the UK and in Reykjavik.
Brynjar graduated with a BA in Sociology from the University of Iceland in 2005 and an MA in photojournalism from the University of Westminster, London, in 2007. After graduation he focused on photojournalism and press photography but for the past couple of years he has focused more on personal projects.
